Kory grew up in Salt Lake City, but spent much of his childhood in rural areas and outdoors learning to fly-fish.  I grew up in the tiny-town of Altamont, Utah.  Coincidentally (or maybe not), on a fly-fishing ranch called the L.C. Ranch.  About 15 years ago, Kory came out to the ranch to guide fly-fishing trips.  With a little help from my dad, Kory and I were introduced and the first chapter of our story began.

After a year or two of flirting and occasional dating, we went our separate ways to follow our dreams.  Over the next ten years, Kory perfected his cast, developed his business management skills and acumen, and accumulated a plethora of fantastic memories having fun outdoors with his family and friends.  I moved to New York City, went to law school, and spent five unforgettable years practicing law in the Big Apple.

Although we spent about ten years without seeing each other, I thought of Kory from time to time.  Thoughts of him always made me smile.  Toward the end of 2005, my dad, always our matchmaker, forwarded me a video of Kory fly-fishing on the ranch and included a not-so-subtle note reminiscent of the sparks that used to fly around the ranch when we were together.

I e-mailed Kory and, over the Thanksgiving holiday while I was in Utah, we saw each other for the first time in over ten years.  And, as they say, the rest is history.  I knew almost instantly that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Kory.  We had used the years that we’d spent apart to develop into who we both wanted to be.  We were now ready to be together.

We dated long-distance for one year before Kory moved to New York City to live with me.  We spent three fantastic years in New York, and have now moved back to Utah to make our permanent home.
